Flying readily but flight seems a bit labored and a little loud.
Goniometry: Carpus improved at 180 degrees. Elbow about the same - I measured 135 degrees. There is still just such a bit knot in the humeral patagium.
Continue w/ flying exercise. I will look into other therapies, but I have researched this in the past and there aren't great ways to break down this scar tissue. At SFWC we tried ultrasound (with a rehabilitation specialist) but even that wasn't a sure thing.

Unfortunately it looks like goniometry was not measured last week, so I cannot compare.
L carpus extension is 175 degrees. Left elbow = about 140 degrees (with difficulty). Bird flies readily and well and does not appear painful. I am concerned that the lack of extension will really show when he flies more distance.
In order to increase exercise moved to larger Mew.
Continue same exercise. Will measure extension in 1 week.

Bird flew back and forth 2-3 times.
The L patagium is still quite stiff and thickened. Again, extension is about 75%. Bird does fly well in small habitat, but I am concerned about how well that will translate to larger distances. The time to work on extension of that patagium is now. Discussing w/ Milan, we decided to add exercise EOD, to make sure we are pushing her to use that wing.
Will put down for 8-10 times since it is a small enclosure.
Recheck in one week, measure w/ goniometer at that time. Dr Gardner

No real ascernible wing droop noted in habitat. Bird does have a scarred, stiff L patagium and reduced ROM in the elbow - I did not measure but about 75% extension at best.
The wound is completely healed.
Moved to larger habitat to allow for exercise. Matthias will place a camera to see how much she moves on her own before we put on an exercise program, because she is in the habitat next to the baby.
Evaluate camera footage Monday.

BAR and feisty. Brought in for anesthetized exam and wound care.
Bandage in place. Still some bruising over the elbow and the elbow has reduced range of motion, which loosens up for the most part.
There is still scabbing over the mid-humerus extending to the caudal aspect of the humerus - but some is loosening up. I gently pried a good bit of the scab away and underneath is very healthy tissue! There is a small amount of adhered scab still present but greatly reduced.
Due to the decreased range of motion in the elbow I decided to try to leave the wing unwrapped. Applied some Duoderm and 2 pieces of Tegaderm to the scabby area and left unwrapped. He may well just pull all that off but I think it more important he exercise himself.
P: Wound care every 2-3 days. Attempt to continue w/ Duoderm. Send pictures to Dr G. Ok to d/c Pentoxifylline and meloxicam, continue clavamox until healed.
I will not be here for 2 weeks and I do not think this needs treatment until then, so please touch base with me about it next Friday. Dr Gardner

PT under 4% ISO via mask. Elbow stiff at first but wsa able to work out. Telfa was stuck to wound. Scrubbed really well and flushed, skin on the outer edge seems very stiff. Covered area with silver gel, telfa, wrapped with padding and vet warp with duct tape.

VET NOTES
Bird is alert and feisty. Has been heavily picking at bandage. Anesthetized w/ Isoflurane and intubated for wound care.
Removed bandage - the small repairs at the CMC and just distal to the elbow look great. There is still quite a bit of bruising extending down to the elbow.
The heavy scabbing on the mid-humerus has softened and is mostly resolved. There is still quite a bit of skin there that looks like it is compromised or slightly necrotic - it is pale - but when stretched it does bleed a little. The wing is a bit stiff, especially at the elbow. I suspect this is due to being bandaged, but also possibly a bit due to scarring.
Did PT, stretched the scarred skin a bit. Applied Silver gel, covered w/ Telfa and wrapped with a figure-8.

Wound care/bandage change: Removed bandage and cleaned suture sites and scabbed area with chlorhexidine scrub. Blood was present on gauze wrapping but no fresh blood was seen while cleaning. Small white area noted on the scab along the humerus at distal end. Swelling was significantly reduced and bruise has begun healing.

Bird is BAR and hissing. Bandage has slipped up and is around the humerus, not covering the distal wing.
Anesthetized for radiographs and wound care.
No fractures seen on radiographs - soft tissue swelling over elbow noted.
Wounds: The mid-humerus ventrally has an area of hard, dark scabbing that is linear and stretches from the middle of the limb to the caudal aspect, with a wider area of scabbing on the caudal humerus that could become compromised. There is also a round open area on the ventral wing slightly distal that is pale. It is open but the skin is firmly adhered to the underlying tissue and the tissue around it is not particularly healthy. There is a small open puncture on the caudo-ventral proximal ulna. The area on the distal CMC that had bony exposure is also open, with some exudate within.

Brought upstairs and intubated for wound care.
The wounds over the humerus still need to declare themselves before any surgical intervention. If the scabs completely dehisce we may have a pretty big wound.
Cleaned the wound on the distal CMC, debrided and closed w/ 4-0 PDS. Closed the puncture on the proximal humerus w/ a single simple interrupted sutures in 4-0 PDS.
Other wounds cleaned, Silver gel applied, Telfa, wrapped w/ padding and vet wrap .
Recovery was routine.
P: Bandage change in 3 days, then in 4 days.
IF THE SCAB COMES OFF AND THERE IS A LARGE OPEN AREA PLEASE USE DUODERM AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T LOOK INFECTED! Dr Gardner

Laying in kennel and box. NOLO. fecal colleced. Weight is up but that includes the bandage. Wound care w/o ane. The left wing is very stiff, swollen and bruised. Had to use LRS to get the telfa off in places. Scrubbed the wing. there are small punctures but nothing large enough to cover. there is one spot midshaft but a little distal that turning white, it almost looked like a blob of ssd. The metacarpals are swollen, dark blue and red in color. They were warm at the start but gradually got cooler. Extention is stiff and the elbow and wrist didn't reach quite full ROM. We are going to keep this bird in a figure 8 + body until Friday so dr g can look at it. Hopefully by then it will have declared itself a little more.

Bird presents QAR. Immediately anaesthetized under 2-3.5% ISO and oxygen via mask due to known wing injury and involvement of barbed wire. Admin torb. Rest of body WNL. ~9in string of wire attached to L patagium, twisted and matted by feathers. Had gotten tangled on dorsal side and twisted over ventrally. untwisted and removed, scrubbed length of ventral wing very well and flushed/dried. A couple small puncture wounds on ventral elbow, skin tear midshaft ventral humerus ~1cm diameter, small tears distal ventral u/r, two wounds ventral metacarpal with bone exposure. Small wound on patagium but hard to locate, scrubbed & flushed area.
Applied SSD to all & duoderm to metacarpal wound, covered all with telfa. Wrapped with cast padding & figure 8 with body wrap.

Very slow recovery from ISO. Kept on o2 for a while, applied warm rice packs to sides of body, hr and breathing steady. eventually set up in KR2 in a donut - very slowly blinked and turned head.
